Eddie re-enlisted, again, but this time with a friend. Buck came along and enlisted. They got into the same platoon and they were joined at the hip the whole time. They never left each others’ sides and they always protected each other.

They were taking a break from walking in Afghanistan. Their platoon was setting up their camp for the night. Eddie sat on his cot and looked up at Buck.

“I’m surprised you’ve survived this long, Buckley,” Eddie teased Buck with a smirk. Buck smirked back, but then of course, Eddie’s words bit him in the ass.

“Wow, Ed’s? No faith in your best frie—?”

There was a loud bang and Buck fell towards to the ground. Everyone scrammed to their guns and supplies. Eddie’s eyes widened and his thoughts raced. Weirdly, all he could think about is that this is how Buck felt when he was shot. Eddie heard some bangs and the ground shook with explosions. Dirt flew up from the ground as bullets rained down on his platoon. He hid behind the a truck and looked at Buck.

“Mierda, Evan.”

He swore as he looked at Buck’s dazed eyes glancing around.
