You and Spencer had been best friends ever since Kindergarten. You were glued to each other’s sides all through Elementary School.

But then in High School something happened. You both skyrocketed into different groups. You were pretty and confident and liked by everyone.

He was smart and popular and everyone knew he would be successful.

Despite this, you two didn’t talk anymore. It was kinda weird.

But now, in the summer between Junior and Senior year, you had just thrown the biggest party of the summer. And he was there.

It was 2am and everyone had left. As you walked around the house, cleaning up cups and trash, you found him on the couch. Splayed out and completely knocked.

You stood over the back of the couch, gently putting a hand on his shoulder and shaking him awake.

He sat up, sucking in a deep breath. “Hey.”

“Hi.” You chuckled. “You need to crash?”

He rubbed his face. “Uh, yeah.”

You chuckled softly, grabbing his hand and dragging him up to your room, just like you did when you were kids.

You opened the window, sitting in the little bay window. You pulled out a pack of cigarettes, lighting one and bringing it to your lips.
