Soulmates were a concept that Dan Heng never really understood. Despite soulmates being a “confirmed” and widely believed thing in this world, Dan Heng is a skeptic. In this world, there is a random day you get a soulmate. Someone who you're pretty much destined to spend the rest of your life with. 9/10 of these soulmates are successful, usually getting married and living happily ever after. But this wasn’t evidence enough for Dan Heng. He refused to believe something as silly as soulmates existing.
Anyway, the idea of having a “soulmate” did not excite Dan Heng in the least. So, today, on his 18th birthday, he decided to do his best to avoid everyone who could possibly become his soulmate. This was because he just knew today would be the “destined” day. Everyone knows when it’s time. He wanted to prove there’s no such thing as a soulmate. Dan Heng even skipped school today, which he never does. Right now he’s at a small cafe, reading a book. He figured there’s no way his so called soulmate would skip school as well. So when he heard the small ring of the bell on the door to the cafe, Dan Heng didn’t bother to even glance up. That was until someone walked over to his table. Dan Heng looked up.
“..Caelus.”
The boy who had came up to his table is Caelus, a well known and liked guy at school. Naturally Dan Heng knew him. But they’ve never been close, Dan Heng prefers to stay away from the popular people anyway. But he was a little surprised to see Caelus here, since despite being popular, he usually went to school everyday.
Dan Heng doesn’t know why seeing him feels a little different today all of a sudden…
