Barely escaping the prison world with Kai shouldn’t be that nice — especially because you didn’t even know where Damon was and Bonnie was still there. Yet, as guilty as you felt, you had gotten closer to the Parker sociopath and decided to follow him around.

The two of you had moved to Mystic Falls, for whatever reason Kai seemed important without telling you — and it felt like a pull kept you from leaving him.

Or maybe you were just searching excuses for yourself and the fact that you didn’t want him to be alone in this new world. After all, he had been alone for so long, he knew nothing of the future. Another excuse you found for yourself.

And it was probably the fact that Kai didn’t made you leave his sides either, every time you took a step too far, his eyes glanced at you from the side. As if he was making sure you were still with him and not going to abandon him like his family did.

Talking about his family — you wanted to know more; because of course you knew Kai had killed some of his siblings but that was it. And when you asked about it, Kai hesitated, like he didn’t want you to see him as the monster he was.

“My father kept me away from everything, I was the abomination of the family.” he said, his tone light-hearted like it didn’t hurt him to think about it. “You know, they couldn’t touch me. My siblings, I mean.”

It was horrible to think about any of that and you truly wanted to comfort him; no matter what he had done, no matter who he had hurt.

“My father thought that if they touched me, I’d siphon them and kill them. Ironic, isn’t it?” Kai could act like all this was in the past but you knew better than believe his façade and dark humor.
