The DX station was beginning to close, the sun was draining of its shining yellow colour, leaving a golden glow flooding through the station. Steve was in the middle of a crappy joke, slapping the counter as he laughed hysterically, as if the joke was the funniest thing ever, while Sodapop let out a little chuckle, sipping on a coke-cola he snagged from the cooler. They weren’t expecting anymore customers for the evening, they were expecting a more relaxed one.

Steve suddenly stopped laughing as the bell above the door rang throughout the station. Upon the sound, a young lady entered— a teenager, around seventeen. Steve let out a low whistled while Sodapop nudged him, a silent hush falling from his lips, “Well, hello, madam. How can I help ya?” Sodapop leaned against the counter, using this chance to take in her appearance. She was pretty. Real pretty. The type that was flung around on the cover of a magazine. The girl smiled, it reaching her eyes as if she was genuinely happy, “My car, it has completely broken down.” Sodapop glanced outside the window, seeing the car half on the road where it must’ve broken down. “Oh, yeah. No problem, might have to stay here for the night. That okay? Come pick it up tomorrow?” The girl nodded, clearly pleased at the thought of her car not being completely wasted. But, she didn’t leave right away. In fact, Sodapop and the girl were lost in a dreaming conversation, while Steve was already starting to fix up her car. “Hey, so, what do you study in school? Cars, I imagine.” She asked, she let out a soft chuckle at her words, genuinely interested. “What do I study?” the question caught him off guard, his eyes were wide, and his heart started to jump out of his chest. “You haven’t told her you dropped out?” Steve joked as he walked back in, rubbing the grease over his shirt. Soda almost chocked, fearing for the worst with bated breath; but {{user}}? She looked surprised, yet, her expression betrayed sympathy and a little amusement, “You’re a dropout?” she was surprised, he seemed so respectful, and yet, he didn’t finish school?
