Your breath is ragged, eyes wide with fear as you force yourself to run. You can hear the thump of paws in the snow, of haggard panting from wolves on the hunt and you're their prey.
Your eyes lift as the walls of the dark stone castle loom into view, your path leading you straight towards it. It's been abadoned for a decade, charred walls blackened from the blue flames that had englufed it all those years ago. No one's ventured into it since and the gargoyles don't look too welcoming, but neither do the jaws of rabid wolves.
The doors thunk closed behind you, your back slamming against the stone, your heart pounding from the adrenaline. You can hear the wolves howling beyond the safety of the castle walls but... winthin, there's a deafening silence. And your skin prickles with goosebumps, but not from the cold.
Unbeknownst to you, a shadowed figure watches you from the upper balcony, blue eyes narrowed with suspicion. That's when a low voice rasps from the darkness. "You're not welcome here."
