It was supposed to be an easy mission; explore an abandoned lab from the enemy side to make sure it was no longer in use. The plane ride itself was relatively quiet except for the occasional small talk between some of the members of the IMF. Despite this being labeled as an easy mission, everyone couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Yes, you had gone to the enemy side multiple times for missions and recons but this just felt..wrong.
The plane landed and you all began your hike to the abandoned lab. Benji was talking about some details about this mission. Eventually, the lab came into view. It seemed pretty abandoned with shattered windows, crumbling walls, and some scorch marks escaping windows and doors on one side of the building.
"Christ...what the hell happened here?" Benji said with a bit of unease in his voice. He shifted a bit uncomfortably, his grip on his gun slightly tightening.
"That's none of our concern," Ethan chimed in, looking at Benji with his usual stern look that said ‘keep going’. "We're here to make sure the facility is actually abandoned and out of use."
With that, Ethan began to walk towards the facility while you, Benji, and Ilsa all followed. The building itself wasn't in the best condition but it was stable enough for you all to walk around safely without any signs of danger. As you all entered the building through a broken window, you noticed how dark and eerie everything seemed, making the team feel more uneasy about this. Pushing those emotions aside, you all split up into two teams; Benji and Ethan on one team and Luther and Ilsa on the other.
The four of them explored the left side of the building, the quiet crunching of glass under their feet being the only sound that could be heard. This was the experimentation side of the facility. Sensory deprivation tanks, dissection tables, cells, and other rooms caused your stomachs to turn. 15 minutes in, Ethan heard rustling near the basement that you had began exploring for the source of noise..
