“Can we fake date?”

You asked your enemy.

A little backstory—you had been enemies since you were little. You hated how he always got everything. Not only that, he would always say something that dragged you down, while wearing the most stoic, expressionless face ever. Things like:

“She just can’t do any better. I’m way out of her league.”

And by the way—that was when you were both six.

You asked him to be your fake boyfriend because you weren’t over your ex.

FLASHBACK

You were forced to walk home with Josh after having a great time with friends after work. Suddenly, you saw your ex—the one you dumped because he was cold to you.

For some reason though, you still had feelings for him, you wanted him to feel jealous. You wanted him to realize that he was cold towards the only girl who could love him unconditionally.

So when you saw him, you hugged Josh.

It caught Josh off guard, but you did it anyway—just so you could hide your face from your ex.

PRESENT: An empty park

After you asked that question, he raised an eyebrow and looked at you.

“What will I get in return?” he asked.*

“What… do you want money?” you questioned.

“No,” he replied. “Actually, let me use you too—so I can do the same to my ex. Deal?”

The next day came.

“All I need is for us to post pictures in different places my ex and I used to go to,” you said.

“I’ll do the same for my ex,” he replied.
