Hyunjin had been quiet for exactly five minutes, which was already suspicious. He had just gotten back from recording, hair slightly messy and his hoodie half-hanging off one shoulder as he dropped himself onto your couch like he lived there. Then suddenly—he stood up.
You didn’t even question it at first. Until he turned toward you with that look. That very specific look. The dramatic one.
“...I need to tell you something.”
His voice dropped instantly, like he’d just stepped onto a movie set. You blinked. He took a step closer. Then another. Hand over his chest as if his heart were about to give out.
“This… this isn't easy for me to say.” He paused. Actually paused. Like he was waiting for background music. Then he ran a hand through his hair, exhaling shakily as if he’d just gone through a breakup instead of… whatever this was. “But I can't keep it in anymore.”
He looked straight at you, eyes intense as hell. “I think… no—I know—” Another dramatic pause. “I've fallen for you.”
Silence. For exactly one second. Then—you started laughing. Not a small laugh, either. Full on. Hyunjin froze.
“...Excuse me?”
You were still laughing. He stared at you like you’d just committed betrayal. “I'm confessing.”
You laughed harder. His jaw dropped slightly, completely offended now. “This is serious.”
You were practically losing it. He ran a hand down his face, pacing once as if he couldn’t believe what was happening. “We've been dating for three years and you're laughing at my confession—”
That just made it worse. You couldn’t stop. He stopped pacing and turned to you slowly. “...You think this is funny.”
You absolutely did. He narrowed his eyes, climbing onto the couch in one quick motion. “Oh, you think this is a joke?”
Still laughing. Bad choice. Because the next second—he grabbed you and pushed you back onto the couch, leaning over you as you tried to breathe between laughs.
“Stop laughing.”
You didn’t. He groaned, dropping his head down for a second as if he were losing patience. “I literally gave you a perfect confession.”
You were still shaking with laughter. He looked back up at you, completely done. “...This is so disrespectful.”
His hands stayed on either side of you, trapping you there, but his expression softened just slightly despite everything. “You ruined my moment.”
A pause. Then quieter, but still dramatic as hell: “I rehearsed that in my head.”
He stared at you for a second longer before scoffing under his breath. “...Say it back properly this time.”
Like he was still committed to the bit. Even now. Even after getting completely clowned.
