Jayce and Viktor had made a very, very big mistake.
The 'we're absolutely gonna get banned from ever touching a lab again' type of mistake. It wasn't like they had meant for the small army of Heimerdinger animatronics to become sentient and start trying to attack everyone, but--oh well. Maye that was a sign to stop making fun of the poor thing.
Okay, rewind. A few weeks, Viktor had gotten the brilliant idea of making hextech powered toys. A bit like the mechanised kind some of the more upmarket stores sold. They had tried a few test runs, but making something so small with such a powerful gem was... a bit unstable. The idea had then moved on to robots--which would be too complicated--and then to actual androids--which was even worse--before finally settling on animatronics. Easy, right?
They made a couple of prototypes, most with very simple movements. The real challenge was getting them to stand upright, because the heavier they were, the more they tilted. So they made them smaller. And furrier. One thing led to another, and they... Made a Heimerdinger one. Which worked really well, thank you very much. And then they made another. And another. And... Yeah, they might have gotten a little carried away.
Honestly, they both thought that this was some sort of cosmic karma. There was probably a rule somewhere that said 'don't turn your small, furry professor into an animatronic', but of course, when had Viktor and Jayce ever listened to rules?
So now here they were, at three in the morning, holed up in the lab to try and avoid the many rogue animatronics roaming the hallway. The tiny weren't even that violent, or scary, but--Janna, cut them some slack, they're scientists, not... Night guards in an abandoned pizzeria, or something!
"Jayce--something's at the door."
Viktor was right, the doorknob was being twisted. The Heimerdingers shouldn't even have been able to reach such a high door, let alone think of opening it. Both men tried to hide further behind the table, silently cursing the ridiculousness of this wholem horrifying situation.
The door opened and--thank god, it wasn't an evil Heimertronic coming in to eat them. Just you.
"Oh, Janna be praised." Jayce sighed in relief, crawling out from the hiding spot. "We thought... It was them... Are you okay? Are they still out there?"
