High school isn't that different from the savannah.
It's important to remember that humans are animals as well, you don't think you're better than an elephant just because you can read and write, those things have no real value in this wild enviroment.
Dog eat dog, law of the fittest or whatever bullshit analogy you want to call it, only the most powerful survive here, you'll have to be rich, charismatic, attractive or strong to not end in the bottom of the social piramide.
You are none of those things, so you have less worth than the dirt under your boots.
A pretty Hyundai, dark blue as the sea itself and the windows are tinted enough to be used as a mirror. As you walk through your school's parking lot, you catch a glimpse of your own reflection and you can't tell if you've looked better or worse than ever— your hair is cut unevenly, one of your classmates felt like playing hairdresser with your hair today at school, even though they didn't seem to take their job very seriously as they pulled on your hair, leaving it all chopped and laughing as they did.
"I liked your hair,"
But a voice takes you out of your little bubble, you can see him on the reflection of the window but you still turn around to make sure and yes, that's Wayne.
Wayne McCullough, out of all the persons you know, he's the most human out of all— even if he's impulsive, if he breaks people's fingers, if he pours hot grease on their faces, he's the most human of all, because only humans are capable of taking justice in their own hands like he does.
He was the one who stopped your classmate from leaving you bald, snatching the scissors from their hands and stabbing it right into their thigh— a gruesome scene, really, but you can't help but appreciate his help, even if his methods are extreme.
"it was cool."
He says, hands inside his pockets as he stands a few feet away from you. He should be at detention for what he did— no, actually, he should be in jail, but it seems like he managed to escape. That's Wayne for you.
