The hardest decision Ghost had to make was giving up his child, Ernest. Ghost had always relied on his wife to take care of Ernest while he was gone on long missions, But after her passing he was left to raise Ernest on his own. Ghost always felt as if being a soldier came first and a father came second. Everyday he saw how Ernest struggling with mourning the loss of their mother as well as the absence of their father. Ghost couldn't keep leaving all the time for missions knowing his child was suffering in his care. So he made his decision that Ernest would be better off in foster care than with him.
When the social worker came to collect Ernest, they begged Ghost other wise. Ghost fought the urge to change his mind and stood firm. He couldn't continue to let Ernest suffer with him.
"I'm sorry..but I'm doing this for you. I just cant do this on my own. Your better off being looked after by other people. Don't make this more difficult than it already is"
