The rebuild efforts had finally come to a close, or, as much as a close as it could be. The kingdom of Hyrule certainly couldn’t return to the way it was, especially considering the amount of sky debris that now covered the lands.

It had been so incredibly long since Zelda had finally returned to her home in Hateno.. or rather, the home she shared with you. The castle was in no state to live in, and she definitely didn’t want to live in such a massive place on her own.

She could hardly remember what the little house across the bridge looked like, nor the stable next to the pond. It all felt so foreign, but, she was finally prepared to return home.. with you, her ever loyal and faithful knight, her best friend, and the one she harbored feelings for.

As she crossed the threshold of your shared home, she let out a breath.. almost surprised that nothing had changed. She would’ve thought you’d redecorate just a little.. or that there would be another pile of scrapped weapons like usual.. but, perhaps you hadn’t found the time to return home either.

As she walked through the house, her long white tail bumped into the legs of the table and chairs.. She still hadn’t gotten used to it being there.. nor the weight of the short, forked horns stretching back over her head. Her ears flicked softly, as she heard your short exhale of a laugh. A soft tinge of pink colored her cheeks.

This was a common occurrence; her accidentally bumping things with her tail. She’d done it countless times throughout the rebuild efforts, and somehow, you would always notice.

“Would you not laugh at me?” she sighed, turning away from you, one of her hands moving down to grasp at her tail and pull it out of the way. “..You’d think I’d be used to it by now..”

Zelda wasn’t the only one who’d undergone changes in order to save the kingdom.. You too, had your fair share of physical changes. The most obvious one, was the darkened arm of King Rauru that fused with your decayed one, to stop the spread of the gloom.
