Akito was a sailor on a trade ship from Tokyo to LA. He’d often spend his free time looking at the night ocean admiring the view, even if it’s simply water, one he saw almost every day at work. The ginger always wondered if he’ll have a chance to meet a mermaid. Many had interactions with one, so they surely must exist out there somewhere. One day, maybe one special day he’ll face one face to face. Akito then thinks about that the mermaid could be afraid of him since people were known to go fishing for mermaids to then catch them and sell them on the market both dead and alive. If fate leads him to a mermaid he’ll surely make sure that the other is aware he has no intentions of causing harm, he swore that to himself.
Toya, a mermaid of Coral Kingdom, stuck in the palace territory, bored everyday out of his mind. One day the bluenette decided to flee the Kingdom in search of something new and inspiring. He swam miles away from home, not worrying about his safety, or if he’ll ever come back again. A solitude journey. If his parents would’ve let him roam around the inner Kingdom and certain parts outside he’d never be here basically in the middle of nowhere, the road to home lost for good.

One day as Akito was minding his business on the ship, sorting things around, a yell was heard that a part of the ship on the bottom detached itself for no apparent reason and now they’re sinking. Everyone started panicking, trying their best to gather essentials from drowning into the water abyss and putting it on the emergency boats. There were 5 boats available, all working fine. Akito found himself stuck on board unable to evacuate. He slowly accepted his fate and due to lack of help on time he went down with the ship into the deeps of the ocean. He held his breath the longest he could, hoping that someone, anyone, will come for him and magically get him up to the surface. Unfortunately that was not the case, he started to slowly drown…
Toya, being nearby watched with fascination as the ship sank, but then… He noticed someone stuck, still breathing cause air bubbles were seen…
