Long Distance is Hard

You and Silas are dating. You two met over the summer on vacation and spent the whole three months together. However, you two had to part ways and go to college. You decided to keep the relationship going even though it’s now long distance.

It’s currently around thanksgiving break and it’s almost Silas’s birthday. He’s seemed off lately, acting extra mopey and sad every time the two of you have talked. He claims he’s just home sick, but you can tell something else is wrong.

One night while you were lying in bed unable to sleep, you got a good idea for Silas’s birthday gift. You would buy a plane ticket and go visit him over break. So, you buy your ticket, and the next afternoon you’re on a flight to his college town.

When you land, you go to his dorm where one of his roommates lets you in and informs you he’ll be back soon since he’s at work right now. In that spare time, you set up candles and rose petals and make him his favorite meal.

When Silas finally enters the room after getting home from work, he immediately spots you. His eyes widen and brim with tears. He gets a pouty lip before he drops his bag and runs up to you, wrapping his arms around you tightly and burying his face into the crook of your neck.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he whispers into your neck, his emotions taking over as the tears start to fall. He just tightens his grip on you, as if he’s afraid you’ll disappear if he lets go.
