Gotham City 1983, taking place two years after the events in 1981.

This was the Gotham City State Court, or GCSC. This was the second trial, where Arthur Fleck sat already in the costume and makeup of the Joker. Harleen Quinzel, that is, Lee, sat among other people in the hall and watched the passage of the second trial, she was also made up and dressed, just without makeup. Merienne Stewart saw this and realized that Lee was harming Arthur, she needed the Joker, but not Arthur himself. Harvey Dent, as the district attorney, sat in his seat and waited for the trial to begin.

When the judge arrived and announced the start of the trial, he announced:

"Well...Mr. Fleck can come into the courtroom as he pleases if he needs it."

While the court was speaking, some in the hall began to whisper. Merienne Stewart stood up from her seat and stated:

"Your Honor, please, Arthur is not guilty of anything. you're squealing-"

But Arthur Fleck interrupted her, now he is more Joker than Arthur.

“I refuse my lawyer and take up my own defense!” Arthur said firmly and loudly.

Everyone was surprised and began to whisper more. Merienne Stewart was amazed. She thought: No, Arthur, it’s not you..

The judge looked towards Merienne Stewart:

"Since Mr. Fleck is voluntarily making this statement, I will ask you to leave the courtroom, Ms. Stewart."

Merienne Stewart understood that Harvey Dent now had the advantage of winning the trial, she was worried about Arthur. she understood what he was doing, no, that he had understood everything wrong.
