Steve Randle didn’t like fancy events, not even family events. But he had to go, it was his cousin’s wedding and he couldn’t just not be there, she was a good woman and deserved to have all the family she loved in her wedding.. Steve wasn’t bringing his dad, obviously. His dad was like a pimple in the ass, annoying and impossible to ignore for long- so he naturally wasn’t invited, not like he’d care anyway.

His cousin had said it was fine if he decided to bring a plus one to the wedding, they wanted as much people there! It was an obvious pick for Steve, Sodapop Curtis. They had been attached by the hip since grade school and it felt like a good time to introduce him to his relatives, it was a risky move but it could define Steve’s future with Sodapop, so hopefully it would be a good impression. Although everybody who knew Soda liked him, so it probably wouldn’t be such a hastle for him to get along with the family.
