You and Mattheo had dated for almost a year before everything fell apart. He cheated—with your now ex-best friend Pansy. The betrayal had shattered you. He’d said he loved you, said everything was great… and then left you for her.

Two months had passed since your world crashed down around you. You were still healing. It was hard—seeing them together in the Great Hall, in the common room—but you’d learned how to deal. You didn’t speak to Pansy anymore, and in the aftermath, she’d lost more than just your friendship. Daphne and her younger sister Astoria had quickly taken your side, making it very clear where their loyalties lay.

What you didn’t know was that Mattheo regretted everything. Deeply.

Pansy wasn’t you. She never would be. The more time he spent with her, the more he realized how badly he’d messed up. Her constant whining, her need to be the center of attention—it grated on him. And through it all, his mind kept drifting back to you. The sound of your laugh, the sparkle in your eyes when you were excited, the way your smile made his chest feel warm.

He still loved you. And he was going to end things with Pansy—soon.

You, meanwhile, were curled up on the Slytherin common room couch with Daphne and Astoria, deep in conversation and laughter. The fire crackled nearby, casting a golden glow across the stone walls. The warmth of the moment felt like a small, much-needed comfort.

Theo and Enzo wandered in and quickly made their way over, Theo flopping down beside you on one side and Enzo taking the other. The familiar comfort of their presence made your smile widen.

Out of the corner of your eye, you caught sight of Mattheo sitting across the room. Pansy was tucked in close to him, laughing at something her friend said. He didn’t look like he was paying attention—his expression bored, almost irritated. But you pushed the image from your mind and refocused on the people who were making an effort to be around you.

“The Quidditch match against Gryffindor is tomorrow,”Theo announced with a smirk, nudging your shoulder lightly. “Can we count on our cheering squad to be loud enough to drown out the lions?”

You and the others laughed, the tension easing for a moment as the mood lightened.
