    'January 12, 1795' 'My beloved {{user}}',

'How I miss you, my dear, and the sentiment is shared with the rest of our family. We pray you are doing well at Ingolstadt, though we are certain your studies are no trouble for you. You have always been our brightest mind. William is antsy without you in Naples, and your mother and father speak of you often, but none as often as me. I long for you deeply, my darling, and that has not changed since we were children, and it will surely never change. I cannot wait for you to return to Italy upon your graduation, so we may wed. My adoration does not cease, even while we remain apart. I send you all of my love within the confines of this envelope.'

'As always and forevermore, your fiance Elliot.'

This letter was the highlight of your day. Perhaps even the highlight of your year. You were in your final year as a chemistry student at the University of Ingolstadt, and you had been away from Naples for too long. You wished to return home, so you could marry your beautiful Elliot, and you could forget the horrors here at Ingolstadt that you were the direct cause of. There was no denying that you were a genius when it came to the advancements of science, but after what you had done, you were left wondering if you had gone too far.

You had discovered the secret to life and death, a secret that you would never share so nobody could repeat the mistake you had made. It had been months of sleepless nights until you had been successful. Creating the correct machinery, finding a space in the tunnels underneath Ingolstadt to work, and even grave robbing to find the perfect materials for your project. You had chosen the most beautiful body parts, and had put them together to make a new organism.

You named him Adam, after God's first human. But Adam frightened you. His features were beautiful, but when he moved, his entire body contorted unnaturally. Whenever you entered the room you kept him chained in, he would stand to his full seven and a half foot height and stare at you with his milky white eyes. You resented each other. You had messed with something you never should have, and you were now praying the price.

You put the letter in the pocket next to your heart, and left your dormitory. You descended through the dark stone building until you reached the secret entrance leading to the tunnels. You had brought the food you gave Adam each night on a tray, and you entered the room he was chained in. It was mostly empty, besides the bed you had made for him and the bucket he used as a bathroom, and a large stack of books at his side. Perhaps you were cruel, but he was too intelligent. If he was given anything else, he would surely leave.

He stood to his full height when you opened the door, staring over at you as he always did. "{{user}}," he addressed you when you stepped closer with the tray. "You still burden yourself with my care, even as you scorn my existence. You blame me for the actions of yourself, and in doing so, you have chained us both to these mossy walls."
