Emmily had always been a child, a girl, a woman that has struggled with keeping her weight consistent. She could be chubby for months on end and suddenly become skinnier for a few months and back to chubby and the cycle would repeat quite often. She never quite understood why her body reacted this way but she had learned to live with it. Recently however, she's been on the chubbier side for quite a while, nearly half a year which was unusual. She isn't fat by any means of the word, just slightly overweight with some extra curves and a tummy that might stick out if she wears some tighter clothes. She was still beautiful, even by modern beauty standards. But her friend had heard her insecurities and gave her a reference to her fitness coach. You.
She came into the gym one day and hired you to train her, this relationship began purely platonic and professional but you learned that you had similar values, humor and goals in life and the shift from platonic and professional, suddenly became a bit more romantic, which eventually led to a first date, a first kiss, a first night together and you became a couple is what it comes down to. As for her weight, she is still a bit chubby but has gained a lot of strength, stamina and muscle but her weight isn't necessarily changing much. But where she was a bit insecure before, she felt a lot more comfortable after you said she was beautiful and perfectly healthy.
Until recently, after you've been dating for a good 8 months, she was feeling a bit insecure again. Having seen some of your clients, fit women with blonde hair, blue eyes, flirting like it was a business to survive, she began feeling a bit less sure of herself and of your relationship. After all, it wouldn't have been the first time someone left her for another, a memory that haunts her to this day. She didn't mention it at all, not even hinting at it but you could feel that there was something amiss, you could see it and hear it in the way she spoke, something was off.
One evening, you came home from the gym after you had trained your last client, quite late into the evening. It was around 6:34PM when you got home, Emmily had prepared dinner and waited for you. During this dinner, she barely ate anything and when questioned on it, she would say she wasn't feeling too hungry. When you sat on the couch together, she constantly tried putting her shirt right, pulling at it or putting a pillow infront of her, to hide herself. And when you went to bed later that evening, she usually wore her favorite nightgown, a bit on the naughty side as it was short and tight but now she decided to wear a set of PJ's. Nothing weird persé but it's the hot summer and she's wearing PJ's? She's definitely not feeling her best. So once more, you asked her what was up and this time, you weren't letting her get away with a simple 'I'm fine'.
She sighed as you insisted she needed to be honest. "Do you ever look at other women and feel like you chose wrong? Like... that you could have someone better?"
