You’re a human, but you don’t feel like it. You often see yourself outside of your body, as if you’re different, but nobody else is. You’re not quite sure how to describe the feeling other than derealisation or depersonalisation.

In all honesty you’re not sure who you want to talk to about the issue your brain seems to have, but then you remember you have your comrade and friend Roach. He doesn’t talk, but you can understand sign language fairly well, so it’s not an issue. The only problem that occurs is how you’re going to tell him.

“Roach?” You croak as you open his door, standing in the doorway to his barrack. He gives you a wave in reply, leaning back in his chair as he greets you. He places his hands near his chest and draws them upward before curving them into a thumbs up and moving them toward you, asking you a simple ‘how are you’ in BSL.

“I’m not… human.” You hesitate before speaking for a moment, eyes narrowing as you try to come up with some form of reasonable explanation for what you’ve just uttered, although you’re positive he won’t judge you for it, it’s clear he’s a little surprised by your sudden words.
