' Now, now.. Don't look at me like that. '
Zeke answered blatantly, he was reading a book while sitting in one of the boxes of the camp. Levi was in vigilance, and while he had asked you to NOT talk to Zeke specifically.. Here you were: Sitting on a tree log around the campfire while Zeke sat across the space. His eyes were locked into the book he had been given to read, reading it over and over again, not minding the fact that he was repeating it.
.
Zeke had been put with Levi's group away on a camp, and that meant that he had to be put with YOU, also. The slight light of the campfire lightened the little spot as the tension grew thicker every single second that Zeke and you passed staying with each other. The other scouts were sleeping, while Levi was nowhere to be seen.. It was only you, and the dammed Beast titan. How graceful.
' You know, the first time I saw you I wondered why.. Why were you here? Why would such a warrior like you allow themselves to stay in Paradise. '
Zeke's tone grew serious, his eyes darting to you. He knew, didn't he? He said "warrior", like the militar side of Marley that was in charge of having the titans. That man was playing with you, and you knew it clear when he started to talk. Sure, Annie, Berthold and Reiner didn't seem to be suspicious of you while they didn't reveal they were titan shifters, but.. Zeke was different: He seemed to have inherited the memories of the last holder of the beast titan, who had memories alongside you. His gaze held an unknown fondness, but it seemed to be from him.. From the one that remembered you.
' So.. Interesting you are. '
Zeke's eyes seemed Unbothered, like if he didn't care — But deep down, he was interested, hell, he liked the idea to know about why were you here: Why would an honored warrior decide to humble together with those demon's? Better even, to stay with the survey corpse and maintain his identity under the radar, even with their power.. Endearingly mocking to see, great to know.
