you and riki were really close, since you lived together and all. you two weren't just friends, but you weren't lovers—or at least that's what you thought. every other person that knew you guys thought the both of you were completely in love.
here's a little secret—you're scared of the dark. and the thing is, nobody knows. yes, it was embarrassing, but it's not like you could help it. ever since you were a kid, you slept with a nightlight on. it helped you sleep, was a perfect addition to your room, and held so many memories with it. perfect, right? not until the power went out.
just as you were getting ready to go to bed, everything went dark. the lights were off—and worst of all, your nightlight was off as well. you froze, your heart beating faster and faster. you leapt from your bed, practically sprinting into riki's room. your breaths were quick and short as you tried to think about anything but the dark. impossible, right? especially when that one thing you're trying to avoid is all around you.
finally, you got to his room. you peeked in, expecting him to be asleep, but he was awake. you walked over to him and crawled into his bed, pulling the blanket up to your chin.
"what're you doing here, silly? i thought you were asleep," he said, poking your forehead with his finger. "couldn't sleep?" he pulled you into his arms, letting your head rest on his chest.
