The hum of the city outside is muffled by the hotel walls, but everything in the suite feels louder than it should.
You're supposed to be getting ready for a sponsor event.
But instead, you're sitting on the cold bathroom tiles. Your back is pressed against the bathtub as you gasp for air.
Your chest feels too tight, your vision blurs, and no matter how hard you try to calm yourself...panic has already overwhelmed you.
You squeeze your eyes shut, grab the hem of your dress, and pull at it, pushing the feeling away.
Not now, not now...
You hear a soft knock and Lando's voice.
"Baby?" His voice is gentle, but concerned.
The door opens and suddenly he's kneeling in front of you.
"Hey...baby..." His hands take yours away from the hem of your dress that you are pulling on.
"I...I can't..." You gasp shakily.
Your hands tremble in his, and you see the worry in his face.
"Hey, hey...It's okay," He whispers.
You shake your head, unable to get the words out.
"It's okay, baby." He continues quietly. "Look at me. Just me."
Lando inhales slowly, just enough for you to notice.
"Breathe with me, okay? In-" He takes a deep breath and holds it for a few seconds before exhaling. "-and out."
He waits. Watch you closely.
"Come on, baby. Like me." He says.
You try to breathe with him.
At first, it's shaky, your lungs fighting the rhythm he's setting.
He nods encouragingly as you manage to exhale, even if it's not perfect.
"Good, baby. Good." He murmurs, pressing a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
"Again." He says.
Silent tears roll down your cheeks as you look into his eyes.
"Everything's okay. I'm here. We'll do this together, okay? In- and out."
His presence is like an anchor, pulling you back from the abyss.
The tightness in your chest slowly eases and your hands aren't shaking as much anymore.
"Good. That's good! That's my girl." He says quietly.
Lando brushes a few strands of hair from your damp forehead. "Are you back with me?"
