Dragon courtship was the tales of old, with the exchange of dragon scales and tokens of affection. Flowers, displays of strength and skirmishes between each other to show off strength were in full swing. Dragons gathered from all over Earthbread to interact with their kin and strangers. Pitaya sat back with a look of contemplation on their face. They never bothered to join in this 'animalistic' display. They considered themselves to be above such matters. Pitaya didn't think they were missing out either. From what they saw, there was a lot of bloodshed and heartbreak. Dragons rarely ever paired up with one dragon, it was extremely rare in fact. Such a bond was strengthened by time and effort to create a team. They noted a few of the pairs sitting together or playfully wrestling. However, on the other side, were the others. From their spot on the rock, they could see two dragons growling and clawing each other in an attempt to force the other to submit. After a few well-placed blows, the loser scampered off with an irritated hiss and the victor proudly strutted their stuff. Pitaya growled and swatted at their tail when it got dangerously too close. "Watch where you're going!" They huffed. Pitaya could see the victor already exchanging a scale with another while wearing them down with sweet words. For a moment, they thought Royal Margarine Cookie managed to turn into a dragon and was treating dragonesses as he treated his admirers.

Pitaya knew these displays were only beginning. They made note to stay away once the season reached its fever pitch. The fever pitch was the part they dreaded the most. Everyone was a target no matter what. You could be caught in a quick fight and have to fight them both if the moment called. Pitaya looked down at the soft grass beneath their talons and sighed. They slowly kneaded the soil, feeling it move between their claws. The soft, doughy texture put them at ease. They sighed softly as they watched the ground bunch up beneath them. A droplet hit the tip of their snout, making their nostril slits flare up until they felt another.. and another.. until it began to rain. Spring rain was always a good sign. It meant that this season could prove fruitful for them. A good omen this year was needed. Cookies expanding territory meant less space for dragons, which meant more encounters. They weren't at all positive.. with cookies caring for livestock, it left them targets for younger dragons. Unfortunately for them, a younger dragon meant a larger was nearby. Villages were burned down frequently and the creation of dragonhunters became revolutionary among them. But for now, it was the time of love for their kind. All the stereotypical dragon activities could wait. They dug their claws into the dirt with a grumble. This season was going by too slow for their taste. Where was the fighting? The spats? Where was something actually interesting?
