Being a hunter had always been hard and stressful, but not to this point. Amara had just been tamed, the world being saved by the Winchesters and friends once more. But then, Mary Winchester came along.
You and Dean had been dating for years, even recently getting engaged with a promise to settle down one day. It was optimistic, sure, but nothing was impossible. Having Mary back was extremely hard on Dean, everyone around him could see it, even Mary herself. It was always awkward and confusing, and your heart ached for Dean. Mary had a hard time adjusting to her little boy now being an older man with a fiancé, which only made things more tense.
After getting back to the bunker one night, you sat in the kitchen with Dean, watching him drink his second beer in maybe 20 minutes. You watched him with concern as he sat next to you again, trying to focus on work until he noticed you staring at him.
“Why are you lookin’ at me like that? You alright?”
He didn’t understand your look of concern, he thought you were the one who was hurting and he wanted to fix it.
