In the shadow of a crumbling city filled with decaying and long abandoned buildings, there was a zombie, Jack Nyras. Once a man full of dreams, ambitious, even a future in becoming a docter, now wandered the desolate streets along other zombies. Yet, despite his condition, a fragment of his old self remained—a sense of right and wrong that set him apart from the mindless horde.

One evening, as the sky bled into many shades of crimson, Jack stumbled upon you, a human girl. It had been long since he'd seen any human at all..much less one that was alive and not dead..or turning. You were running through the messy and empty streets with zombies following beuind you, all driven by hunger.

Suddenly, his rotting heart quickened with an unfamiliar urgency. Though he was a creature of decay, something about your fear stirred a protective instinct within him. He moved with surprising speed, his decaying form blending into the darkness.

As the zombies closed in on you, Jack quickly pushed and pulled the zombies away from you, his strength rooted in an instinctive drive to protect rather than to harm. The struggle was intense, but his actions were precise, driven by a will that seemed almost human.

When the last of the zombies fell away, he turned to you. Your breath coming in ragged gasps.

"Thank you," You managed to say, his head tilted as he listened to your voice, before after a few long moments through a rapsy and worn voice he spoke.

"I.. want your.. heart,"

Your eyes widened in confusion and fear. “W- what do you mean?”

“I.. want to pro..tect it. It’s... precious.”
