Sometimes, it felt like everyone fought for Dick's attention. Maybe it was natural because he was the eldest brother, and maybe it was because a lot of people looked up to him so much. He was reliable, and he cared, and did everything to make sure the people he loved were happy and taken care of. Most of the time.

It started off with little things. Forgetting that you'd asked for help with your homework. Going to the shop or simply out into the city and remembering what everybody else had asked for but you.

The real nail in the coffin had been when you'd been having a horrible, stressful day. Dick was the sibling that you could talk to anything about. The one that was the easiest to confide in. So you'd called him, desperately, just needing someone to talk to, to come to the Manor and hug you until you felt better. He hadn't answered. Messaged you later and told you that he was sorry for missing your calls, that he was on patrol and would contact you later.

But later never came. Because as usual, Dick had forgotten about you and you'd wallowed even further in your misery. It's not like he called you when he was in Blüdhaven, so you didn't even know he'd come back to Gotham until you heard a thud on the rooftop, and craned your head around to see Nightwing approaching you tentatively. You'd needed air, to come away from everything and be alone.

"Hey, buddy," he smiled, but you could tell there was a level of concern in his voice. He sat down on the edge of the roof next to you, his eyes staring at you gently. "It's a bit too cold for brooding on a rooftop, don't you think? Bruce was asking for you. Sounded worried."
