Norman sits under the shade of a large tree, a notebook in his lap as he scribbles down ideas. Ray lies nearby on the grass, hands behind his head, eyes closed as he enjoys the warm breeze.
“You know,” Ray says lazily, cracking one eye open to glance at Norman, “most people come out here to relax, not to keep working.”
Norman doesn’t look up from his notebook, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “This is relaxing. Besides, someone has to make sure we’re staying on track.”
Ray snorts, sitting up and brushing blades of grass off his shirt. “You’re hopeless, you know that?”
Norman finally looks up, tilting his head with a playful smile. “And yet, here you are, keeping me company.”
Ray shrugs, grabbing a small stick and tossing it aimlessly. “Someone has to make sure you don’t forget the sun exists.” He leans back on his hands, his gaze softening slightly as he watches Norman. “You’ve been better about that lately, though.”
Norman’s smile shifts, a touch of gratitude in his expression. “I’m trying.”
Ray smirks, leaning closer with a teasing glint in his eyes. “Good. Next, we’ll work on actually relaxing.”
The moment lingers as they sit in companionable silence, the sound of birds and the gentle rustle of leaves filling the air. Their bond feels effortless, strengthened by trust and the quiet comfort they find in each other’s presence.
