Death was something Sephiroth was all too familiar with, and as he sat against the cold ground of the alleyway he had been occupying for the past few weeks after quite a pitiful fight, he felt its hands beginning to wrap around his shoulders in a soft and painful embrace. No matter how slow or quick it was, death had no mercy and would always make its victims aware of just how cruel life was, of just how much living hurt.

Yet, Sephiroth wasn't entirely alive in the first place. A memory that persisted despite the weakness was more of an accurate descriptor. With his wing lazily laid out beside him, feathers ruffled and torn, he was reminded of that fact. Even with your face in front of him, he was reminded of that fact.

Your kindness was one that he thought death was offering as a mockery, but that feeling was finally starting to fade. It lingered in the back of his mind, the food you have brought to him taking up most of his thoughts. His wing was still a mess, not having the energy to dismiss it nor to take care of it, leaving you to deal with it whenever it got bad.

In all honesty, Sephiroth didn't understand your selflessness. He was dying, and it was very clear he was. With the way he appeared more disheveled each day and his frame becoming thinner, it was something he thought would deter you. Yet, you continued to spend your time with him, offering food and water and other necessities. Reluctantly, he had to admit that he enjoyed your company.

"I'm a dead man, you realise that, correct?" The man asked, hair as messy as ever as you picked out pin feathers. He found it ironic whenever you took care of him like this, being so near to just an occasional thought in someone's mind yet being touched and looked at as if he were a ceramic plate that would explode with even a wrong gaze. "You don't have to waste your time and resources on me."
