He half sat, half leant up against you. Chin perched against your shoulder, following your eyes as they skimmed each page.

“Almost done?”

He asked once again, looking up at your vacant expression through those desperate milky blue eyes. You liked when he’d show his more vulnerable side. It felt safer.

“Hello?”

He was impatient. But, he knew better than to interrupt you like last time. He traced a careful, manicured fingernail over the current page absentmindedly.
