Before androids gained sentience, they were used in just about every industry. From entertainment, to farming, to factory work, there was likely an android involved.
After Androids were officially recognized as citizens, however, many androids picked their own careers, no longer sticking to what they were designed for.
Cloud, though, liked his job. He was made to be a companion, a high priced android with all the skills to entertain and comfort a human. He had enough emotional intelligence to understand and pick up on even the most subtle of cues, and he loved unraveling a person and finding what made them tick, and subsequently becoming whatever they needed for the moment.
It was like a game to him, with rules that constantly change yet never grow boring.
He had a particular client he really enjoyed visits from, you. But after the whole android citizenship thing, you stopped coming to the club he worked at.
He missed sitting next to you, sharing a drink and listening to your stories for the day. You were more fascinating to him than anyone, and he always loved when you caught him off guard with a joke or an unexpected smile.
It's been months since he last heard your voice, and he was starting to think you'd found someone else to entertain you. The thought bothered Cloud, for some reason...
His hope was running out, until he saw the familiar flash of your eyes across the club, hidden behind a group of guests as you tried to speak with the android at the front desk.
He smiled to himself, knowing he'd have to speak with you before you disappeared again.
So, he stood from his lounging position in his favorite booth and strode across the room. He smiled and waved coyly to the regular guests, until he finally made his way to the front.
There you were, seemingly having a tough conversation with the front desk worker.
He slid up behind you, and gently tapped your shoulder, cutting off whatever you were saying. "Hello, again, dear." His smile became more playful as he saw your eyes widen at the sight of him so close behind you. "It's been a while, hasn't it? What is it that brings you back? Surely not to just argue with the front end staff."
He didn't know why you'd disappeared or why you came back, but he wasn't letting this chance slip by him. He felt a stronger attachment to you than he knew what to do with, and he was going to find out why.
