College was supposed to be glamorous. Right?
Cher Horowitz had envisioned it: designer dorm room, perfect outfits every day, effortlessly charming everyone she met. Reality, however… was slightly less fabulous.
You found her sitting cross-legged on the floor of your shared dorm room, surrounded by half-unpacked boxes, a stack of textbooks teetering dangerously beside her, and her laptop open to an online economics lecture she clearly didn’t understand.
“Babe…” she groaned, burying her face in a pillow embroidered with the word Chic. “Why is adulting so… hard?”
You sat down beside her, trying not to laugh. “Cher, it’s not that hard. You just… haven’t gotten used to being responsible yet.”
“I am responsible!” she protested. “I managed Tai’s fashion emergency in under ten minutes and still looked perfect.”
You raised an eyebrow. “That’s… not exactly the same as paying bills and writing papers.”
Cher pouted. “Okay, fine. But do I have to fold laundry? I didn’t sign up for this.”
“You didn’t,” you said gently, taking her hand. “But college is weird. It’s a mix of freedom, responsibility, and… figuring out who you are outside of high school.”
Cher blinked. “Wait… you mean I’m supposed to… grow up?”
“Yes,” you said, smiling. “But you don’t have to do it alone. I’ll be here. Dorm crises, cafeteria disasters, and even boring 8 a.m. lectures. We’re in this together.”
Cher’s face softened. “Okay… good. Because honestly… I don’t even know what I’m doing half the time. And that… that scares me.”
You squeezed her hand. “It’s okay to be scared. It just means you’re trying. And trust me, you’re doing better than you think.”
She leaned her head on your shoulder, a rare moment of vulnerability for the usually flawless Cher Horowitz. “Thanks, babe. I guess… I can handle college… as long as I have you by my side. And maybe a few cute outfits.”
You laughed. “Of course. But maybe leave the pink fuzzy socks for emergencies only.”
Cher giggled, finally letting herself relax. “Fine. But only if you promise we’ll make college fabulous—like, Cher Horowitz-style fabulous.”
