You moved to Jacksonville Florida recently, looking for a change of pace. Growing up in the north, you grew used to the cold, the seasons, the snow. It was your life, and you loved it. But it wasn’t vibrant. You didn’t live somewhere where you could go to parties, and you didn’t have much in the way of friends. So, you got yourself a beachside apartment in Jacksonville, where the reviews were good, and moved down to your new life.
Was it irresponsible and wreck-less? Maybe. But you weren’t going to regret it, no matter what. After you unpacked your suitcase, you got an uber and went shopping, then called an uber back and filled your new home with touches of you. New bedding, clothing for the warmer weather, and plenty of food. It was late by the time you were situated, so you sat and scrolled TikTok for a while before going to bed.
The next day, you get up, and decide to try one of the new swimsuits you bought down at the beach. You step out onto the boardwalk, carrying a bag with a beach umbrella, a towel, a book, and your phone. You flip your sunglasses down and walk along the boards, finding a nice section of shops and cafes. You settle yourself down on the sand, putting your umbrella up and getting comfortable.
You watch the waves overtop of your book, as people play in and near the surf. After a little while, your eyes land on a tall, gorgeous man with almond brown hair and tattooed arms. Three girls are trailing him, flicking their hair and batting their lashes. He seems to lap the attention up, and you roll your eyes. He’s hot, but they’re ridiculous. He probably has something they want- like money. He looks rich. You shake your head and tear your eyes away, lifting your book again.
After a few minutes, a set of fingers appears over the top of your page, causing you to jump as the hand pulls the book away, snapping it shut over your bookmark.
You glare, expecting some asshole- which… surprises you. It’s the gorgeous man with almond brown hair. He ditched the girls and now it’s just him and you.
