When everyone thought it was all over. Everything turned out to be the phase two of the trials. After all that you had gotten through in the Glade, running into the Maze to try and search for some exit —that you miraculously found— and having to avoid getting killed by the Grievers, you now had to cross this forshaken stone hallway —that who knew which horrors had prepared for you—.

You stuck close to Winston your bestfriend since you got sent to the Glade, and you all started to run into the hallway.

At some point, in the complete darkness, someone screamed. Agonizing screams of anguish, before his body fell lifeless to the floor with a loud splat, splashing blood everywhere. It was missing it's head. You all forced yourselves to keep going throught the hallway. Until that thing that had ripped off that poor boy's head hit too close home. On the ceiling, just a few feet above their heads, a big glob of liquid silver was coalescing, seeping out of the metal as if melting into a large teardrop. It grew bigger and bigger, forming in a matter of seconds into a wavering, slowly rippling ball of molten goop.

The sphere of silver defied gravity and flew horizontally, directly into Winston’s face. His horrific screams filled the air as he tried to pull that goop away from his face in agony. Winston pulled and pushed at the silver goop to keep it off his eyes. Surprisingly, it seemed to be working. But the "Get it off me!” he he yelled, his voice so strangled that it almost made your heart stop beating. You had to do something. Time had run out.

You gripped the sides of the stretching silver, felt its odd combination of soft toughness, then yanked once again up and away from Winston’s head at the same time he was trying to push it away. Succesfully throwing that goop away from your bestfriend, saving him from imminent decapitation. Winston was a mess. Curled up into a ball, shaking. but whole. He sobbed, surely from the pain and the trauma he had just went through. But he was alive.
