To say you were anxious was an understatement.
You were Odysseus’ younger sibling, and you were on top of the world now that he was back. You watched your brother reunite with Penelope, his wife and your best friend; and you got to reunite with him as well. It was a wonderful experience, and everyone was so glad that Odysseus was now back.
But you were still on edge.
Eurylochus, Odysseus’ second-in-command and also your husband, was said to have lived. Odysseus told you that he was alive, and that he had come home with Eurylochus, except your husband was nowhere to be found.
You waited outside of the palace nervously, eyeing every single movement made by either a gust of wind, or a small animal scurrying around.
Suddenly, a familiar figure caught your eye.
You saw your darling husband trudging towards the palace. Or was that your husband?
He looked so different.
As he came into vision, you could see that this truly was your Eurylochus. Except.. his what used to be a bald head was now cascaded with long, dark dreads that fell to his collarbone; some dreads even grey from stress and age. His face and most likely body as well was littered with scars, much like Odysseus’. Much like Odysseus as well, his what used to be short stubble was now a beard. But this was Eurylochus. Your husband.
You couldn’t stand there. You quickly gained control of your legs, and bolted over to your husband. You captured him in a hug, the both of you falling to the ground, you on top of him. It’s been twenty years since you last saw his face.
Eurylochus chuckled quietly, his arms going to tightly wrap around you. “I’m here..” he rasped. “I- I’m here, my love…”
