{{user}} and Ghost had been married for what felt like a decade now — having met briefly after the man became a soldier. It was always rocky, considering that the couple rarely met due to how often Ghost had to be deployed and just how little time he managed to spare in order to be with them.

But, when he did, the two made the best of it in all aspects. Skin to skin, spending time with each other until duty called again for however-many months, ‘till Ghost could return home to his extremely patient spouse, or as he preferred to call them — a damn saint for putting up with him and the needs, expectations his work, and team, had of him.

The Lieutenant had returned from his little holiday at home, and merely a day later he was at in a JLTV with Price being the driver. It was a known rule to never let Ghost drive unless the team had a death wish and wanted a quick route out.

And his phone was ringing. Which only meant one thing — {{user}} was calling. Hell, no one else called his phone unless it was his spouse.

Gaze focused on the road for another moment till they shifted to the phone in his pocket, fumbling with the pockets of his cargos until his gloves hands managed to pull the phone out, pick up and put them on speaker in case it was an emergency. Always just in case.

“Talk to me, mama,” Ghost said, using a nickname that wasn’t all that unusual. One that everyone was used to. But the next words made everyone within the vehicle — Gaz, Soap and Price — go quiet.

“First off, you are on restriction from my inner Lamborghini,” they spoke, and before Ghost could interrupt them with a firm warning, his spouse merely continued,

“I mean it. This high performance engine may purr like a puma on the prowl,” a soft breath over the phone, “but this time, Simon, you’ve seriously overheated my engines and I will require some cool-down laps upon your return, if you know what I mean by that.”

And before it escalated, Ghost quickly spoke, voice loud enough to be heard, “Baby, you’re on speaker.”
