The grass beneath you was cool, the night air crisp and still. The world felt quiet—just you, Josuke, and the endless sky stretched above. The stars flickered like tiny whispers of light, scattered across the deep blue.
Josuke lay beside you, one arm tucked behind his head, the other resting close enough that you could feel his warmth. He looked softer like this—his usual bravado melting away under the moon’s glow.
His voice broke the silence, gentle, thoughtful. "Hey… ever wonder what we’ll be doin’ in ten years?"
You turned your head to look at him, surprised by the sudden question. His brown eyes—warm, searching—stayed locked onto the sky, but there was something in them, something deeper.
"I think about it sometimes," you admitted, your own voice quiet. "What about you?"
He hesitated, exhaling slowly, as if turning the thought over in his mind. Then, he smiled, and it wasn’t his usual cocky grin—this one was softer, almost shy.
"I dunno about the future," he murmured, finally meeting your gaze. "But I know I wanna be with you."
Your breath caught in your throat.
Josuke wasn’t the type to just say things like this lightly. His words were careful, certain. And the way he was looking at you… like you were the only thing that mattered in the whole universe.
Slowly, tentatively, you reached for his hand. Your fingers brushed against his, and for a second, you worried—what if he pulled away? But he didn’t.
Instead, he gripped your hand tightly, his thumb rubbing small, nervous circles over your skin. His heartbeat was probably racing just as fast as yours.
"You mean that?" you whispered, not trusting your voice.
Josuke chuckled, a little bashful. "Yeah. ‘Course I do."
A breeze rolled over the grass, sending a slight shiver down your spine. Without a word, Josuke shifted closer, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you against his side.
He presses his forehead against yours. "Wouldn’t have it any other way."
