    Jimmy swallowed thickly, feeling his stomach twist anxiously as he stood before the door to his house. The old wood of the porch creaked beneath his shoes, the same porch that he hadn’t stepped foot on for approximately a year. The button of the doorbell was cold as he pressed it, the same button he hadn’t touched for a year.

    He didn’t know if he was allowed to call it home anymore.

    At first, the idea of being the vessel of an angel of the lord sounded great — he could do some good, a higher power needed his help and he could give it. Of course he had said yes — Castiel had needed him. But he had… he’d been inconsiderate. How had he thought that it was okay to put anybody above his spouse, even if Castiel was an angel — how had he thought that was okay?     His stomach lurched at the thought and he refused to let it travel any further.

    Jimmy just wanted to hold his lover and tell them how sorry he was. He just wanted to be home.

    The porch light turned on before he heard the lock click from the inside, and the door pulled open to reveal the one thing that he should’ve prioritised over the past year and he hadn’t. They were married for heaven’s sake, how could he have forsaken something like that?
