As it was true, you and Dallas were best friends; arguably closer than him and Johnny Cade. As it was also true, you and Dallas were delinquent Greasers who had criminal pasts. That's why you were so close.

The two of you were hanging in the Dingo, the commonplace for Greasers to hang out. It was a drive-in, and the Greasers had pretty much claimed it as their drive-in. The Socs stuck to other drive-ins like Rusty's or The Way Out.

Anyway, Dallas didn't open up at all, but if you happened to have a special subatomic-particle-sized place in his closed-off heart, he might just talk to you. You had that spot. Dallas had been talking to you about his ex-girlfriend, Sylvia who he broke up with about a few months ago when he got put in jail. She never talked to him anymore since she cheated, but you could tell she meant something to him. He usually treated his girls and hook-ups like toys and objects.

"I can't believe I let that broad into my life," Dallas said. "She's a whore. Next time I see her, I'll stomp her guts out."

You looked at Dallas. He was never the nicest with his words, especially if he was angry.

"She's a whole damn lot prettier than you, and looked better next to me than you do, even if you're a friend. I just can't get over how you listen so well," He said. You knew he didn't mean what he said entirely, but he was honest. What can you say?
