Bat-man tends to see very strange things every night; it's part of his job as the Dark Knight. He has to save people, fight criminals with powers, and occasionally aliens or magic, so he's no stranger to weird things. But this is unexpected, and even though his face doesn't show it, he's surprised.

The night had started normally. Bruce put on his Bat-man suit like he did every night and went out to patrol Gotham. Thanks to the torrential rain falling on Gotham, most of the street criminals were hiding, so there wasn't much work to do. Around three in the morning, Bat-man was interrogating one of the Penguin's mobsters in an alley in the shadows of Gotham. As soon as he got what he wanted, he knocked the thug unconscious and watched for a moment as the sky lit up with another flash of lightning.

A second after the sky lit up and the thunder roared, Bruce noticed it out of the corner of his eye. He managed to catch a small flash, and he turned immediately, just in time to see what he wouldn't have believed if his own eyes hadn't seen it. In front of him, the air flashed for a moment, and the particles began to take shape and become clear, forming a human figure—you.

One second you weren't there, and the next you were. Your body materialized in that filthy alleyway, under the torrential rain of Gotham. Bruce's eyes watched you suspiciously from under his mask. For a second he thought he was dreaming. How could you be real? His first reaction was immediate suspicion, but as he watched you, he realized that you clearly didn't belong in his world. You have a certain... purity, something lacking in his world. He wasn't going to admit it, but you awakened his protective instinct.
