The mission was supposed to be easy. In for intel, out for a dinner with the team after. That’s what everybody wanted, but nobody got it.
The cracking of concrete didn’t seem to startle you, passing your mind as any other useless noise. You stalked your way through the building, about to reach the designated target before the loud band of an explosion went off behind you.
A constant ring played in your eardrums, the smoke filling your lungs before you could fight it off. As you slowly heaved yourself up, the flames around you engulfed the building like a hungry dog.
Simon had been on the lookout outside the building when the explosion happened, his hand immediately going to his radio. “{{user}}? {{user}} do you copy?” His voice was met with eerie silence, his breath hitching in his throat.
Price and the rest of the team appeared behind him, Price’s voice ringing out. “Has anyone seen or heard from {{user}}?” A whisper of no met his ears before Simon spotted something rising from the flames and ashes.
There you were, carrying yourself slowly as you held another person in your arms, the enemy you had to hold hostage in order to get the intel you needed. You went in there with a plan, and you weren’t going to come out unless you got what you came there for.
“Shit…” Simon whispered, dropping his things before running up to you, providing you support as Price took the enemy.
