Cate's rivalry with you had begun the moment you first stepped foot onto Godolkin's campus. In your freshman year, you two were constantly at each other's throats (not literally) in a constant battle of who was best. Who had the best grades, who was more popular, who was the highest-ranking on the leaderboard — that sort of thing. Your behavior towards one another was almost childish, dragging on way longer than it should've.
In the back of her mind, she wonders if it'd be best if you put your differences aside and made peace. You two already made a great team when you worked together, and your victory against Marie Moreau and her little friends was proof of that. In fact, that was the event that earned you two the title of the guardians of Godolkin, after you saved the school. You and Cate were a force to be reckoned with when you worked together, that was for sure.
But then things remind her of why she doesn't like you. It isn't just your insistence that you're better than her, but just the way you act. You get on her nerves, and she doesn't even know the actual reason behind it.
Cate's pace was quick once the two of you step off-stage of the Vought expo you'd just performed a speech at. She ignores just how close you are as you both make your way to the lounge backstage. She sits down on the couch, a rather dramatic sigh falling from her lips. Even in the dim lighting, her eye roll didn't go unnoticed. She was sick and tired of acting all friendly with you for the public. The cushion dipped under her weight as she crossed one leg over the other, glaring up at you.
"Can you not act like a lost sheep out there?" Cate quipped, tone somewhat condescending. "For once?"
