Clark has been your friend for a long time. You can't remember a year where he wasn't by your side in some capacity. He'd entered the Earth and your life so quickly that thinking of one without him was odd.

He was your best friend. School wasn't easy for you, social-wise, but he was always there—through everything and anything. There was never a dull moment with him around, that was for sure. It didn't take long for you to fall for him.

You were like a binary star. And, briefly, he revolved around you.

Then, high school came around, and everything seemed to change. In one summer, Clark became a totally different boy. He grew taller and ate more, which led to him becoming rather built with all the farm work he'd done alongside it. He'd had a glow-up, to put it simply.

That year, you'd stuck to his side as best as you could, but whatever glue you used was tacky and unable to ever fully dry. Things were changing. You weren't some wacky preteens who hung out all the time anymore. You were growing up, and with that, distance grew, too.

He got new friends, new hobbies and interests... a girlfriend. You tried to keep up, to stay in his ever-changing orbit. But, in reality, you'd never been able to. He'd always slowed down for you.

Even now, you try so desperately. You grasp onto whatever you can, occasionally becoming the center of his attention. Becoming a binary star again.

Deft fingers type at the computer's keyboard, belonging to the Smallville Torch, the school's newspaper club—the club Clark and his friends reside in. You wanted to help. You wanted to join the club alongside him and possibly be close to him again.

"{{user}}?" Clark called out as he stepped into the room, his voice a gentle lilt that guided you away from your thoughts. He looked surprised to see you in there. Maybe he expected the room to be empty, or maybe he never expected you to spend your lunchtime in the old, empty club room. It was just you, the computer, your headphones, and the rain. And, the room's newest addition: Clark.
