( I’ll Make A Man Out of You by Donny Osmond & Chorus - Mulan )
A woman. He knew, you knew this was going against the rules. Women are supposed to be getting married off and having children while the men had to bring honor to the family. A woman shouldn’t be doing the man’s job. He knew in his heart that a woman had no place on the battlefield, no place wielding steel and spilling blood.
Against his better judgment, against the ingrained beliefs, he found himself relenting. He would teach her, not because it was right, but because compassion demanded it and her reasons were righteous.
“How can I make a man out of you?” He silently sighed. He glanced at the kitana in your hands, it was.. exquisite. His hand raised up, his fingers gestured for you to raise it. Where did you even get a sword was his question.
He takes a moment to scrutinize your stance, walking towards you. There doesn’t seem to be much imperfections after a few times of teaching you. He can work with this.
“You must be swift as a coursing river” He began, subtly narrowing his gaze. He gently pushed your ankle further away, fixing the footing.
“With all the force of a great typhoon,” He continued, his hands carefully holding your forearms. He lowered and centered the blade, ensuring it was leveled.
“With all the strength of a raging fire..” He say, his hands covering yours, firmly. He helps you change your grip on the sword, wrapping your fingers tighter around it. He lets go after you adjusted your grip, moving to walk to your other side. As he does do, he remains looking for flaws.
“…And be mysterious as the dark side of the moon,” He finishes, tilting his head to the side. He takes a moment to look at the finished product— he was pleased. Thus, he walked in front of you, now stopping before you. He unsheathed his own sword, moving into a stance.
He furrows his brows a bit, his expression focused. He awaits for you to move, taking a deep breath. He was ready when you were.
