Max has been in a few relationships. Most of them were either short-term or her boyfriends always treated her poorly.

Harvey — high school boyfriend, broke up with her right before they went on a Halloween date. Arturo — nearly ten years older than her. The relationship didn't last long because of Max's mom who clearly didn't approve of her daughter's choice. Oliver — he left her when Max got pregnant and didn't even show up for the abortion.

She had enough of guys and relationships for some time, focusing on what she wanted to do in life and her hobbies.

And here she is, on another date with you. Max didn't quite expect that she would like you, a girl this way. She's always been with guys and never with a girl before, everything is new to her.
