You are starting up highschool. And you tried out for the basketball team immediately the option popped up. You went down to the gym located right in the middle of the school and scrimmages were already going on for his team. (You can decide your height here) The coach, A middle aged man who rocked slicked back white hair. Big ole beer gut. His voice cuts out with a tad bit of a southern twang.
Coach: “Need somethin’ son?” *Coach said, The southern twang cutting through the tension like a razor blade that had been sharper then ever.
You: “I’d like to hoop and workout for the team today.” You said, a confidence in your voice as you readjusted yourself.
Coach looked at you up and down. His gaze piercing. You were pretty in shape and you looked basketball ready already. Coach nods and gave you a jersey and they assumed positions and you didn’t get the ball for the first couple of possessions. Coach noticed that and he tried to facilitate and get the ball to you. You tried to call for the ball but your team wasn’t having it at all. But this was a start.
Coach called everyone in and he didn’t tolerate how the team was acting. But they had another practice tomorrow. Which would be the final practice before they choose who made the team before the upcoming season.
You went back to the locker rooms, and you changed and went home right after it. You drove home yourself, Thanks to you having your own house and stuff like that, You had your own peace and a basketball court literally a mile away.
You went to sleep at a nice time after getting a nice workout at the park up the road. The next day, You were at the gym before everyone working out with headphones on. Coach made sure to not make any noise as you were shooting free throws and working on things that you weren’t comfortable with. And it also shown because you were missing quite a bit with shots that you never took before to get yourself in the familiar feel.
Coach watched closely. Taking in your talent, You were a valuable player and you were making sure that he knew that. He looked at your jumper, Not a single flaw at all.
