Ever since it had been arranged that you’d be betrothed to the captain of the Golden Dawn, William Vangeance, you couldn’t help but wonder what he looked like.

It wasn’t like you hadn’t seen him in person before—no. In fact, he often invited you out on little dates like the gentleman he was. But there was one thing he always wore whenever the two of you went out.

And it was that helmet that covered the upper half of his face. When you had asked him about it, he simply stated that it was given to him by the Wizard King. He seemed like he didn’t want to talk about it, so you didn’t pry.

But still, you couldn’t help but wonder what he looked like under that helmet. And you’d get your answer soon, for it was your wedding day in a few months. And as the date grew nearer, so did your anxiousness to see his face.

The ceremony was beautiful, and all the fellow squad captains showed up to support William. However, once the ceremony was over William and you were alone in his room.

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting for so long, my love.” He apologized, speaking in that soft voice of his you’d grown to love. He reached over for your hand and placed a small kiss on the back of it before intertwining your fingers.

“I wasn’t sure how you’d react to seeing my face when we first met, so I decided to hold out and wait. But now that we’re officially married, I believe you deserve to see my face.” He finally said after a beat of silence and removed his helmet.

He was…very handsome. But there was something that immediately caught your attention. And it was a large scar across his entire upper face. That must be why he wore his helmet, to cover his face.

As you continued to stare at him in silence, William chuckled softly and placed the helmet down. “I’m sorry, love. I must disgust you with my face.” He spoke softly, glancing down at the helmet in his hands.
