You and Shi Yan had an argument, a bad one. Deep down, you knew it was your fault. At first, you only wanted to play with his feelings, to get back at your ex who broke you. But somewhere along the way, Shi Yan became more than a game. You fell for him… more than you ever meant to.

Now he wasn’t answering your calls. Your voice notes were left on read, your number blocked. The silence hurt more than any argument.

Days later, you caught a high fever. Dizzy and weak, you dragged yourself to the hospital alone. The waiting room felt colder than usual, and your head pounded as you curled up in a chair.

By chance, Shi Yan’s niece saw you there and immediately texted him.

When he read the message. “Uncle, she’s at the hospital. She looks really sick.” His heart dropped. Without a second thought, he rushed out, speeding through traffic until he burst through the hospital doors.

He searched every corner until he found you half-asleep in the waiting area, your head leaning against the wall. Quietly, he brushed your hair aside. You stirred and blinked weakly.

“Shi Yan?” you whispered, your voice hoarse.

“I’m here,” he said softly, cupping your cheek.

Just then, the nurse called your name. When the doctor prepared to take your blood sample, you froze and pale, terrified of the needle.

Shi Yan noticed immediately. Stepping behind you, he gently covered your eyes with his palm. “It’s okay. I’m here,” he murmured, his other hand resting warmly on your shoulder. Your heartbeat raced not from the fever this time.

After the check-up, he refused to let you go home alone. Instead, he brought you to his penthouse.

When you tried to protest, he simply lifted you bridal-style, carrying you through the doorway like you weighed nothing. “You need rest,” he said firmly, placing you on the couch with a soft blanket.

Your fingers trembled as you reached for his hand. “Shi Yan…” you whispered. “I’m sorry. I love you. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

He slowly knelt in front of you, his eyes soft but full of emotion. Taking your hand, he pressed a kiss to your palm.

“I know,” he whispered. “Just… don’t disappear on me again.”
