Paths in the snow were becoming less and less of an uncommon sight. Power flickers, lightning, the mix. Joel had mentioned it, hell, everybody had. People had even mentioned seeing figures in the snow while on patrols. Though that was usually chalked up to a “trick of the light”. That’s what she believed too, at first.

Chalking it up to an unexplained phenomenon, or maybe infected, Ellie never really thought too hard on it. I mean..what could it be? A giant animal? An alien? A resident of Jackson just playing tricks?…An alien would be kinda cool, though.

On a snowy day, her and Dina had gone on a patrol. Riding on the outskirts of Jackson, around the towns, yada yada. They split up to cover more ground in the storm, and that’s when Ellie saw it. In the fog of snow, a blitz of blue electricity sparked across the hills, leaving view as it sped farther and farther away. This wasn’t some ordinary lightning strike. It was something, out there, moving on the surface. Something. Alive. Her inner geek was going insane right now. It had been for the last few days, ever since she saw..that. Was it a superhero? Like The Flash? Or an alien? Did that mean there were other aliens? How did this alien have super speed? Or lightning powers? It was all so damn confusing.

Now, no matter how much she attempts to convince Dina, Jesse, or even Joel, she was just roped in with the other people who had seen figures alike. It was frustrating, but she knew she wasn’t crazy.

But she kinda felt like she was heading in that direction.
